Experience an expansive world that takes you beyond the ordinary. Explore exhibitions that bring together the best in classic and modern art, along with curated tributes to significant events in the country's history. The Gallery's permanent collections reflect a diverse global offering that began in 1832 with patriot-artist John Trumbull's donation of more than 100 of his paintings to Yale College. Today, explore decorative art, paintings & sculptures, ancient art of the Americas and the world, photographs, prints, drawings, coins and medals and treasured pieces from around the globe.

Tuesday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Thursdays (Sept-June) from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; closed Mondays and on the following major holidays - New Year's Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day.

  • Is Photography Permitted?

    To allow you to memorialize your personal visit to the Yale Gallery, non-flash photography is permitted. However, commercial, wedding or distribution photography is not permitted. Also, the use of flashes or strobes, tripods or video equipment is not permitted. A full catalog of public-domain images of works within the Gallery is available for download on the Gallery's website.
  • Is There Parking Nearby?

    Enjoy convenient access to the Yale University Art Gallery with several nearby parking garages that serve all of downtown New Haven. The closest one is located at 150 York Street, where Gallery members also enjoy a discount on parking. You can also find metered parking on nearby streets, at $1.50 per hour. Pay via coins or credit cards.
